Mum & Dad's holiday

This really takes the biscuit! First my Blog is hijacked by Ducklings, now Mum takes over my Blog to share her holiday photos! Why do I bother? Mum, I'm telling you, this is absolutely the last time. Blog your piccies, and then give me my Blog back!

Hi all, Mollie's Mum here, thought you might like to see a couple of photos from our holiday. We were staying in a small cottage just outside a little town called Killin at the end of Loch Tay. The scenery was lovely and the weather was quite kind to us.

It really was a lovely place, and we had a nice relaxing time, although we did miss Mollie very much! Promise that the next Blog will focus totally on Mollie and her adventures!

BAD HAIR DAY

It is me honest!!!!

Mum's been sorting through some old photos, and for a little Westie ( I was two this year) I have had some pretty shocking hair cuts, and I thought I'd share a couple with you. No wonder they make mum chuckle. In the summer they try and keep me quite short 'cause I get so hot! In the winter it's allowed to grow quite long, but clearly gets out of hand. Mum keeps threatening to buy me a bow, but I put my paw down, a coat is one thing, but a Bow!! No siree.

The last photo was taken a couple of weeks ago, and my hair has already grown loads since then. Dad keeps talking about scissors, but everytime he mentions them I hide under the table, and I shall continue to do so until Mum brings up the Bow again!

Helping in the Garden

It's been a lovely sunny day here in Orkney and we (me & Jess) have been helping with the gardening. For some reason Dad didn't see it as helping and kept shouting Mum to get us out of the way, especially when he was cutting the grass, and boy did it need cutting. I got lost at one point, if you look closely you can just see my head!

It was so hot, I wanted to go for a paddle but I wasn't allowed near the stream because of the ducklings, look they've really grown!

When they'd finished the gardening, Mum & Dad took our boy out for an icecream but because it was hot and we was tired, Jess & me stayed home and I slept in my big crate in the shed, it was lovely and cool!

More on the ducklings

Hi, I don't often 'revisit' a topic on my Blog (hark at me 'My Blog'!), but Dad took some more photos of the Ducklings and they are lovely, so thought I'd share them with you. I tried to say hello to them today, but their Mum was some mad, and flew at me, all hissing and quacking. Next thing I know, Dad's telling me off and I'm doing time in my crate.
I've told Mum & Dad enough is enough though, we want pictures of me on my Blog, not of Ducks, it is after all Mollie Westie's Blog!! Talk to you all soon.

The Ducklings

Those of you who follow me on twitter, might recall that one of our ducks - we have four who live in the stream at the bottom of the garden - made her nest right outside the front door. Well, she's hatched her eggs and there are now three duckings! They are absolutely lovely, but I find it very hard to resist the urge to chase them! I keep getting into trouble for chasing the grown up ducks, so you can imagine what they'd say if I chased baby ones!
They are only a couple of days old, and today is the first day we've seen them in the water. You should see my Dad, he's like a proud father, dashing in and out with a Camera, and making sure that the Gulls and Crows stay away. I guess it means I won't be doing any more paddling for a while. Dad says if I go near them I'm grounded (in my crate) for life!

The Hair Cut

It's been quite hot over the last couple of days, and quite honestly I've been a bit uncomfortable. So when Dad got the scissors out I didn't make as much fuss as usual. Mind you, if I'd known how short he was going to 'trim' me I might have had a bot more to Woof about! What do you think?

Trip to the beach

Can you believe it's over a month since I last posted an update on my Blog? Where does the time go? Those of you who follow me on Twitter will know that altogether too much time gets spent tweeting!! Anyhow, Twitter is down tonight so an ideal opportunity to update my Blog. Today has been a lovely sunny day in Orkney and to be honest I started the day quite cross. Dad has gone away for a couple of days, the boy had to go to school and Mum to work. That meant nice sunny day and I was in my crate - not good! Then unexpectedly Mum came home early, and I got to play in the garden. I should say at this point that my crate is not small, it's the size of a small room and I have plenty of room to move about in (I'll get Mum to post a photo of it on twitter). Anyhow, sun's out, Mum's home and I'm playing in the garden - result. Then the boy came home from school and reminded Mum he had band practice - BAD because Band Practice = more time in crate! So I was a bit surprised when Mum put me and Jess in the car as well as boy and his trumpet. Turns out that after dropping the boy off we were going to go the beach for a walk. We spent a lovely hour sniffling around and paddling in the shallows. I was very good and only barked at the birds a couple of times. All in all the day was a lot better than I thought it would be. Now I'm curled up on the sofa dreaming about tomorrow's adventures.

Walking by (in) the stream

Yesterday Jess and I were very lucky, and got taken for a walk in the fields behind out home. The cows are in the field at the side so we were safe to be let of our leads and allowed to run! To start with I was busy finding all the smells and things to roll in, then we went down to the stream and I decided to be brave and go for a paddle! When we got home I was very tired and once I was dried (didn't enjoy that bit!) I slept for hours!

Me & Jess in our garden

We are very lucky living where we do because we have a lovely big garden where we can run where ever we want and bark as much as we want without upsetting the neighbours. I don't know if you follow me on Twitter or not, but our only neighbours are the cows. Spring is a lovely time of year because there are lots of flowers in the garden and everything looks really pretty.

This morning when we got up I had to go outside pretty urgently if you know what I mean! Dad opened the door and I ran out, and a hare was stood beside my Mum's car just looking at me! It was big! I didn't panic though, I just barked twice and charged it! It soon left the garden! Dad was really impressed, at least I think that's what he was shouting at me!

My best Pal Double OJ (Jessie to her friends)

I know that I set up this blog with the intention of telling you how I was going to take over the world, but between you and me I think I'll leave all that world domination stuff to Dexter!

I'm quite happy with my lot, and share my little kingdom with Double OJ - you met her in an earlier blog. Her name is Jessie really but our 'little person' thought Double OJ was more in keeping for a spy helping to take over the world! She's quite a bit older than me, and was little person's 4th birthday present. He's 13 this year and doesn't really like being called 'little person' anymore.

For a long time Jessie was the only Dog in the Household and then I came along. She's been my best Pal (Apart from my Mum!) since Day 1, and even when I've been a typical cheeky Westie has never lost her temper with me

The big Prickly Thing

Ok, if we're honest it wasn't that big, but it was prickly, very prickly! As a Westie, one of my main jobs is to protect my family. This means that several times a day I go outside and patrol the garden! Sometimes, if I sense someone (usually a Cat or Rabbit) I might extend my patrol, but the humans don't like me doing that! Anyhow the night before last, I went outside about 8.00 o'clock and thought I'd seen a rabbit. I chased towards it and there in the middle of the lawn was a oval prickly thing. It looked a bit like an upside down scrubbing brush, but it had little legs and was snuffling around. Well although it was quite small I felt I needed to make sure it understood who was boss and so I thought I'd have a sniff. As quick as you like it rolled into a tight ball and attacked me! Well it prickled my nose and it hurt! I was so cross I started barking and everyone came running! Then they started laughing, and to add insult to injury Mum said we should give the prickly thing some food, and as we didn't have any cat food, it could have some of mine! Not impressed!

Lifes a beach

Where i live (Orkney) is an island and there are lots of lovely beaches to run and play on. Sorry I mean there are lots of locations for Double OJ and me to practice our manoeuvres on. Today we were rehearsing world domination, although Double OJ seemed more interested in finding a sunny spot and dozing.

After a while I realised that we were being observed, there were three seals in the bay, possibly agents for the dratted Dexter. I was all for swimming out and giving them what for, but Double OJ thought the sea might still be a little cold, so I just stood on the waters edge and barked my disapproval!

All in all, though I think the operation was a success, and we may soon be ready to start our campaign. in the meantime there are the ducks down da dyke to keep in order.

A little background information!

Before I continue with my tales of world domination and my obsession with catching that Cat(!) I'd like to tell you a bit about my home life, I am a Westie (no surprises there) and I like on the Orkney Islands (off the North Coast of Scotland). I moved to Orkney when I was about 8 weeks old. As you can see from the photo I was a peedie (Orcadian for small) wee thing. It took us 8 hours on a boat to get there! Mum wouldn't put me in the kennels so we spent the whole journey out on deck with my curled up inside her fleecy jacket! When we arrived I found that I was going to live with three humans (1 quite small and playful like me!) a black labrador (Double OJ) and a budgie (more of which on another blog another day). Since then Da Ducks Down Da Dyke have also joined us (again more of them another day). Orkney is a lovely place for a Westie to live, lots of lovely open places and beaches to run around in, although when you are small as me the Cows can seem quite scary. All in all I am a very happy dog, and spend my days either chasing Double OJ and the Ducks ( in a very friendly fashion of course) or curled up a sleep at the side of one of my humans! Can't be bad. Next Blog back to World Domination!

Day 2: Whats Going On???

That flipping cat, scuppering my plans already!!! Its a long story, it will take all day to tell you. Well, I have got all day so this is what happened; The cat went for Double OJ, (remember, that's my Bessie mate), but she, not being the sharpest knife in the drawer , tried to play with it!!!

Come on Double OJ, that's rule 1 of the doggie code, never play with the enemy!!!!!
Any way, back to the story; I run over to get the scruffy 'thing', but get caught in my lead-due to an 'unfortunate' incident with the postie. He got what he deserved
-erm, sorry, I seem to keep getting sidetracked!!

J (he's my contact from Day 1, you know), was busy dealing with the 'mess', the Ducks down da dyke left after being a bit 'enthusiastic' with the bread. J, on the floor, ducks nipping at his feet!!!
Rule Number 1 in the Duck Code: Dont attack your associates. Today wasnt going well. Double 0J falling at the first hurdle, and now Im a man down!!! But I have a plan...

Progress Report please Double OJ: WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF-WOOF WOOF!!!(Translation:We have now taken over the whole of Orkney, off the north of Scotland!!!)

Day 1: World domination 0.01% completed
I decided to make a 'mess' on the carpet, got into trouble for that. Never mind. Not to be put off from the matter in hand, I went outside 'bravely' (Im only 2 you know) and found my most mortal enemy: Next Doors cat. It 'miaowed' sweetly. Doesnt fool me. It plotted to get my mates the ducks down da dyke. I called my associate, agent 00J (My best pal Jessie Labrador really) over, and in all the commotion, my 'contact', J came. Too late, it was gone. Wheres Mrs E when you need her? Maybe next time, eh? I'll get it!!!

My Idea to beat dexter dog:

That Dexter, hogging all the limelight!! Ill get him. Any way back to business. My plan is to eliminate all cats and mice, then I will RULE THE WORLD! Mwah ha ha hah.
